She loves Hungarian gastronomy and often prepares traditional recipes like gulyás and lángos at home (see our Culture section for more). LÁSZLÓ
Software engineer from Budapest, Hungary's vibrant capital and famous for its thermal baths and grand architecture. He worked for various Hungarian tech start-ups until he decided to focus on his passion of spreading the Hungarian language and culture online. He coordinates the IT team, focusing on content delivery across multiple platforms and systems.
What more to say? After work you’ll often find him sipping a roasted bean coffee at a local barista café while enjoying a Gerbeaud or Dobos cake as he debates current affairs. He loves Hungarian folk revival music as well as hiking with his kids in picturesque landscapes, such as the Buda Hills, Lake Balaton or the Danube Bend.

ESZTER
With a sharp eye for engagement and a deep love for all things Hungarian, she is the cultural strategist behind our mission. Thanks to her background in digital communication for Hungary's foreign missions, she leads our outreach efforts and strives to present the best of Hungary to the world.
Passionate about Hungary’s evolving identity, she tries to showcase not only the most celebrated aspects of Hungarian culture but also to bring into the spotlight the emerging voices and the artists at the vanguard. When she is not visiting museums or events she likes to wind down in one of the many thermal spas in Budapest. She recommends that you immerse yourself in Hungarian culture while you learn this beautiful but difficult language in order to achieve the best results.

MIKLÓS
Born and raised in Tokaj, famous for its world-renowned sweet wines and vineyard-covered hills, he has always viewed language as more than just a set of rules but rather as a living, breathing expression of identity. After earning his degree in Linguistics and Literature, he spent several years teaching Hungarian to international students and creating lessons for language learning platforms.
As the lead language content developer on our team, he tries to combine academic rigor with the real spoken, everyday Hungarian you would actually hear. When he’s not writing lessons or editing, you’ll likely find him either wandering through antique markets looking for pieces of Hungary's tumultuous history to decorate his house or cycling on the country's picturesque roads with his friends on weekends.

ZSÓFIA
As the editor of the Podcast sections she manages the voiceovers and video content production teams. In the past she worked for well-known multinational companies helping them localise their products for the Hungarian market. Over time she developed a deep appreciation for the "soul" of Hungary—and found her purpose through its language.
She joined with one clear goal: to make Hungarian more accessible. In the digital landscape overflowing with generic phrases and clunky translations, she’s committed to offering something authentic. Her aim is for learners to not only master the language but also understand how the history of this country shaped it into its current form. Hailing from Debrecen, a city known for its strong Protestant heritage and vibrant student life, she enjoys returning to her hometown, especially during the annual Flower Carnival.

ROBERT
Born in the United States, even though his roots were Hungarian — his grandparents having emigrated from Szeged. He grew up hearing only bits and pieces of the language at home and thus could not speak Hungarian. What began as a vague curiosity about his family’s background during a work assignment in Hungary turned into a lifelong passion for the language and culture, so much so that he decided to relocate.
He is currently in charge of the localisation team, expanding the available Hungarian language lessons in English as well as other languages. He is well aware of the difficulties having learned Hungarian later in life which gives him a unique perspective and insight. He recommends that you persevere, especially at the beginning, as the more you learn the easier it gets! In his spare time he enjoys watching American football matches, watching movies and cooking.
